"Uhh!" You muttered as you rubbed the sand from your eyes. It'd windy at night in Sunakagure as usual.

This kind of dry and windy weather couldn't possibly for good for a lady's skin. You sulked as you remembered finding a new wrinkle in your face this morning.

But then again, it's not as if you could complain to Temari, you are about her mentor's age after all, a girl in her prime age as herself could never understand how it feels to dread the effect of aging.

As a Jonin, you've been summoned to Lord Kazekage's office a lot more frequently recently. With the Akatsuki getting more active lately, and the news that various tailed beasts in different villages have been captured, you had to participate in various missions to protect Lord Kazekage's safety.

It is a scary thought to imagine what would happen to the balance of power between the villages should the current Kazekage lose the power of One Tail and get killed in the process.

On the other hand, this Akatsuki organization had been troubling you on a personal level as well.

If the rumours were true, then... your muscles tensed as the name sprung up in your head.

Then there's a chance that Sasori would return to this village.

*flashback*

"I'm so tired..." you muttered to no one in particular as you dragged yourself passed the door.

You had a long day of training and came home exhausted and starving. You wished your parents could cook you something, but unfortunately, they were killed by Konoha's White Fang along with Sasori's parents years ago.

Sasori...

You tried to ignore the feeling of sadness that stemmed from the fact that the boy you grew up with disappeared not long ago without so much as a warning.

In the dark, you stumbled around, using the wall as support and guide as you felt toward your bed. You were too lazy to turn on the light, why bother when you are already so familiar with the little place that you called home?

That's right, after your parents were killed, the village elders put you in a smaller residence and used the money obtained from selling your original place to finance your daily expenditure.

Not that you were complaining, it was too much to live in the same place that reminded you of your parents every second.

You closed your eyes briefly to get rid memory along with the feelings that rose in you.

Sometimes you wished you were a puppet, then you wouldn't have to waste time on something as meaningless as feelings, especially since you already spent enough energy as it is training and well... surviving.

Your legs could barely carry your weight from exhaustion. The thought of a good night's sleep sounded fantastic, more so than the idea of food.

You collapsed toward where you think your bed is with a sigh.

Instead of being greeted by the soft sheet, a lump caused you to fall onto the ground with a yelp.

"Shhh!"

There was a click and the light turned on.

"Sa-Sasori???"

He stared you smugly.

It was almost as if Sasori has never left, not much has changed about him beside the fact that his face became a little more angled, some baby fat must have been lost while he was gone, but he still looked like a teen that has never became weathered by the outside world.

"And there I would have thought you'd at least turn on the light, careless as usual, (Name)."

You stared at him for a moment before you turned around with a "hmph!" and crossed your arms.

"(Name)?"

"What?" You muttered grumpily under your breath, still sitting cross legged on the ground.

"Why don't you turn around? It's rude when I'm trying to talk here."

"Well, why did you leave? Don't you know how worried I was?" You could almost feel your voice crack, as you turned around angrily, "friends don't do that to each other-"

Your words were silenced as you were met with a pair of soft lips.

Your eyes widened before you shoved your friend back.

"D-Don't think that'll do it! I'm not forgiving you that easily!" Your voice was unsteady, your eyes travelled all over the room, anywhere but toward your childhood best friend and possibly... crush.

But being the inexperienced teenage girl you are, you snuck a peak at him every second before you looked off to the side again.

Sasori blinked at you before he smirked.

"So you are implying that you did not hate that kiss."

You blushed deeper at how certain he sounded with that statement.

"W-wha-"

"(Name)," he turned serious, "I want you to come with me."

"Come again?"

"I want you to come with me," he repeated again, this time a little irritated.

"Why?"

"Since I can't forget you, I figured I'd rather have you by my side instead of obsessing over you."

You gaped.

Is that... a confession?

He smirked at your reaction.

"That kiss we shared earlier tells me I'm not the only one that's interested in being with you, so why don't you come with me?"

"Sasori, quit joking around, we are not kids anymore." You looked off to the side again, your face still burning.

"The Third Kazekage certainly didn't think so when he called me a 'bad boy'."

"What was that?" You heard Sasori mutter something under his breath but you didn't hear what exactly did he say.

"Nothing."

Sasori replied almost a little too quickly, but you did not pursue the matter.

"If we leave the village... we will become missin-nin's, not only will we lose protection of the village, we may even be hunted..." your voice trailed off as you imagined the possibility.

"But (Name), I've became strong enough to protect both of us."

"Sasori, please return to us. If it's freedom that you want, there's practically nothing you can't do in the village that you can do outside!"

Sasori grabbed your shoulders, forcing you to look at him. His words came out in a string of quick whisper, "can't you see, (Name)? I turned Chunin at the age of 8, it's only a matter of time before I become Jonin, I don't want to become fodder for Kazekage like our parents did, but that's the only thing to do as a ninja as long as I live in this village."

Your mouth opened and closed when you realized there's nothing you could say to retort that.

This hatred of having to grow up only to face possible death because of meaningless conflicts between villages... It was something you two frequently talked about as kids after your parents were killed.

"Plus..." he released your shoulder and moved back to lean against the wall, suddenly looking exhausted, "I can't come back... not anymore." He looked down at his hands, his bangs covered his eyes.

"What do you mean?" You climbed onto the bed to sit beside him.

"I didn't want to tell you..." he seems conflicted for a moment, then with a sigh he reached into his jacket.

You held your breath as you watched him pull out a scroll. He opened it, biting his finger nimbly, he summoned the puppet with his blood.

When the smoke cleared, you gasped at what you saw.

Standing before you, was the corpse of the man that once led your village. His Iron Sand Jutsu was known as the most powerful in the village, to think that he would become this... thing.

"Is that..." You had to cover your mouth to stop the shriek that threatened to rip out of your throat.

"Yes, I kidnapped the Third Kazekage and made him into a puppet."

It's true that the Third Kazekage suddenly disappeared one night a few months after Sasori disappeared, but you would have never thought that Sasori was the reason behind it.

"What have you done..." You whispered in quiet horror.

Puppets made out of real humans were unheard of.

Certainly, why would you want a puppet that's made out of soft human flesh instead of something more durable?

But the puppet before you, you could tell by the way light danced off its surface that it's not soft. A sense of morbid curiosity made you almost want to touch it and examine it, but the overwhelming horror easily triumphed that urge.

"I killed him and changed him."

"But why? Why not just make a regular puppet?" You turned to Sasori and saw a mixture of pride and raw excitement that frightened you even more than the corpse before you.

"Because a human puppet retain the special jutsu they used when they were still alive," he paused before turning to look back at you with a small smile on his face, the adoration in his eyes did not make you feel warm, it made you tremble.

"Want a demonstration?" He suddenly asked, his words almost sounded rushed in his excitement.

"No... no thank you," you had to gulp to resist the urge to vomit.

As if sensing your unease, he put an arm around your shoulder.

"Don't worry, (Name), I won't ever do anything to you that I won't do to myself."

"Sasori..."

"So what will it be, (Name)? Will you leave with me or rot in this village?"

...

*flashback end*

You didn't want to remember the rest. Even though he was the enemy, the rage and betrayal on Sasori's face when you rejected him hurt you as well, even till this day.

Soon after he came to visit you that night, rumors arise that Sasori has joined an infamous organization called the Akatsuki. You didn't want to believe it, but a small voice in your head never ceased to blame yourself.

If you had been by his side... would things have been different?

Despite fearing his presence, part of you still wished you'd find Sasori in your room one night just like that fateful night years ago.

Maybe that's the real reason why you never changed residence even after you became a Jonin.

You sighed as you turned on the light to your place.

It wasn't out of fear, paranoia, or the need to check for intruder, but perhaps deeply, you were waiting for him to pay you a visit, despite knowing that it's a wish that would never come true.

As you walked past your room to go to the kitchen, you stopped by the door when you noticed something out of ordinary.

A robed figure sat on your bed, one of his or her legs was crossed over the other. You did not miss the red clouds that adorned the black robe, signifying the figure before you as a strong enemy that could probably kill you easily if the organization's past feats were anything to judge by.

"It's been a while, (Name)."

Your eyes widened.

This voice!

Almost instinctively, you reached for a kunai.

"Now, now, (Name), that's not how you greet an old friend." The figure chided as he stood up gracefully. One of his hand, now adorned with an Akatsuki ring, reached toward the straw hat that sat on top of his head.

"Don't take it off!" You barked. Inside, you pleaded that he would listen.

The hand only hesitated for a second before the man grabbed the hat.

"Please, Sasori!" you begged him through clenched teeth. You felt yourself sigh in relief when the hand dropped to his side.

If Sasori was to show his face... you weren't sure you would be able to resist to urge to want to join him.

It wasn't a mistake that you refused to leave the village with him all those years ago.

No, it wasn't. But sometimes, you couldn't help but feel lonely.

Sasori chuckled, perhaps he had seen the puzzlement and conflict on your face, but you weren't about to allow him to exploit that weakness.

For now, the best defense is to take offense.

"What do you want? Are you here to kill me?"

He tsked, "I want the same thing as all those years ago, you."

"I will never join your evil organization," you said venomously.

"Fortunately for you, Akatsuki currently don't accept any more members. However, that doesn't mean I can't take you."

Sasori began to walk toward you, but in your eyes, it looked more like a predator stalking its prey.

You wanted to take a step back, to turn around and run, but you knew it would be futile considering the power difference between you two. At most, you were able to do a few A rank techniques, and you wouldn't doubt that Sasori has probably learnt many S rank techniques in the years after he left the village, and in that Akatsuki organization as well.

Which meant the only option left is to face him, even though the chance that you'd survive a confrontation with him is probably a lot slimmer than if you just ran away.

You gasped when cold fingers grabbed your chin, pulling you up to a kiss.

This kiss was different... it wasn't the same as the warm slow kiss you shared on your bed the one time he visited after he left this village.

This one was cold, there was no feelings behind it.

As he pulled back from the kiss, he pulled off his hat as well, but one of his hand remained stroking your cheek.

Your pounding heart skipped a beat when you saw his face.

He maintained the appearance of a teenager, his eyes almost glass like as they bore into yours.

"You've aged, (Name)." He smiled almost gently at you, but you could see the cold cruelty shining behind the false kindness he was showing.

"And you never changed..." you whispered in a daze, part of you wanted to stroke his cheeks just like he's doing to you, but you resisted the urge.

He nodded, "I can stop it all, revert you back to when you were in you were the most beautiful if you would like, if you'll just come with me."

You slapped his hand away from you. The throbbing pain in your fingers told you that his hand wasn't quite human.

A possibility sprang up in your head but you didn't want to entertain it.

"I'm not a patient man, (Name), this is the last chance you'll have to come quietly with me. If you still refuse, I'll have no choice but to see you as an enemy."

"Why have you returned?" You diverted the topic, hating what he said but unable to bring yourself to completely hate him.

Sasori was quiet for a second before he spoke.

"You probably have it figured out already, the Akatsuki are collecting all the tailed beasts."

"But why?"

"You don't have to know that." Sasori cut you off sharply.

Just as you were about to say something in return, an arm snaked behind you and pulled you into a hug. You struggled in the embrace, but his arms tightened around you, making you wince in pain.

Just like earlier when you slapped his hand away, his embrace was hard and unforgiving as his arms trapped you to him.

"(Name), we don't have to be enemies," you shuddered when you heard Sasori whisper into your ear, "I've been searching all these years and I've been able to turn myself into a puppet for the most part. I can do that for you too, your beauty will be preserved for all eternity, and you will have the free will to move around on your own, just like me."

Realizing that there's nothing you could do, you leaned against him.

"Nothing about you is free though."

"Hmm?" You could feel the vibration in his chest as he hummed. It was something you desired as a teenager, yet it felt terrifying to you right now.

"Even though you left the village, you are still being used as a puppet by the Akatsuki."

"It doesn't matter, I will leave them once I complete my art."

"What art?"

"Oh you'll see, my art will be eternal, and you can be part of it," he pulled back to look at you.

You stared back at his honey coloured eyes defiantly. Knowing that he has came back to take Lord Kazekage from the village once more must have aroused the sense of duty within you to give you courage.

"Give up on me, Sasori, I will remain loyal to this village until the end."

He clicked his tongue, "loyalty is such a meaningless feeling, you'll see once you become a puppet."

"Sasori," you whispered, "can you not feel any emotions anymore after you changed yourself?"

He stared at you blankly, "I wouldn't say that, I still feel a desire to take you from them. I suppose my love for you still stands." There was a slight grimace when he said the word 'love', almost as if he's disgusted and fascinated by it at the same time.

"Love isn't about possession, but then you wouldn't know its true meaning because you aren't human anymore."

"I don't need to understand. I feel so much better now that I got rid of those meaningless feelings. This is why I want you to join me. You may not understand it now, but it's for your own good."

His words broke your heart, but at the same time, you made a decision.

"Sasori, I still love you dearly, this is why... I have to save you, to release you from this subhuman state," you murmured softlt as you reached toward the kunai again.

Sasori dodged your attempt to kill him easily.

"You are still confused," he continued before you could retort, "you have until next time we meet to decide whether you want to come with me like a good little girl. And don't even think about reporting tonight's incidence to the others. You know I'm not a patient man, (Name), and you have tried my patience far too many times."

He raised his hand, a chakra string brought his hat back to him. He walked over to the window and pulled it open, the wind along with sand rushed into the room, causing you to shield your face with your arm.

"Know this, (Name), one way or another, I will have you."

With those chilling words, he disappeared from your sight.
I feel like I've messed up with this story... but I've never been too good with writing this kind of theme (speaking of which, I don't even know what is this theme >.>), so I guess I'll just keep practicing and hopefully improve? XD
I don't own the characters, they belong to Naruto's creator. The picture was found here: weheartit.com/entry/group/2108…
And yes, Sasori knows where your room is, he has probably visited your room for more times than you knew. Sometimes when he's bored, he even watches you sleep because you know, Akatsuki members have nothing better to do for the first few years while Naruto was still a kid... :iconsasorirapefaceplz:

I meant for this to be a one-shot, but I guess I changed my mind (still, read it as a one shot if you wish to!)... here's what happened after: avalon-kore.deviantart.com/art…
